What a joy it is to work alongside of the churches and pastors of the Oldham-Trimble Baptist Association! I look forward to visiting all of the churches and to building a solid relationship with each pastor and congregation.
Permit me to cast a vision I have for my tenure as your DOM. First, I envision focusing on strengthening each church in the association through leadership development, missions education, evangelistic outreach to the lost and the development of ministries to meet human needs in each of our communities.
Secondly, it appears to me that with the growing number of unchurched and "dechurched" people in our two counties, that there is a dire need to develop strategies for planting new churches to reach these pockets of people with the Gospel of Christ.
A third part of my vision is to see each of our member churches collectively and with equal sacrifice, step up to the plate in teaching and practicing biblical stewardship of time, talents and treasures. It wil take solid stewardship practices to grow our churches and to develop our cooperation throughout the association in reaching the lost and discipling them in the teachings and practices of our Lord Jesus.
Finally, it is my passion for us to continue maturing into an Acts 1:8 association. Let us be united on mission in our association, our state, our nation and beyond our national borders. This will take all of us partnering in prayer, giving, going and spiritually growing. I can envision us becoming a missional association for God's glory!
Let us join together to make an impact in the mission fields God has given to us!
Randy Jones, DOM
To help us achieve God's vision for us, we must have team leaders and volunteers to accomplish goals and objectives outlined. Our Vision Team has organized into four teams as shown below to address each area of our vision.
- The Church Strengthening Team identifies resources that can help our current churches become more effective. They respond to the requests of our churches for support and connect church leaders with those resources that will enable them to accomplish God-directed ministry.
- The Church Planting Team facilitates the planting of new churches intent on ministering to people who are not being reached for Christ and His Kingdom.
- The Missions & Ministries Team coordinates ministries that our member churches partner together to support. Examples include the housing ministry of Good News Homes, Hispanic ministry, and Infant Resource Center, Baptist Builders, Pittsburg Partnership, Clothes Closet and the Marriage Education & Resource Center (MERCY).
- The Administration Team takes care of all the administrative tasks needed to help OTBA function smoothly, for example, budgeting, officer nominations, and business sessions.
The teams meet quarterly for coordination and planning. In between quarterly meetings, team members do whatever is needed to carry out the work they have agreed upon. Check the OTBA calendar for the next scheduled meetings. The teams welcome all who have a passion for these areas of ministry to participate in the team process.
