Good News Homes, Inc.
Good News Homes is a nonprofit organization created in 1998 by Oldham-Trimble Baptist Association to address the housing needs of our area in the Name of Christ. At present we have a total of 10 3-bedroom units located in LaGrange and Bedford that provide transitional housing for displaced families. Rent is based on ability to pay.

Director Rose Boyd and assistant director Sherri Caldwell work with families to help them develop their own plans for regaining self-sufficiency and connects them with a wide range of resources. Their offices are located in a lovely, two-story home at 110 East Madison Street, LaGrange, KY  40031. They may be contacted at 502-225-0351 or by email.

Additionally, Good News Homes is the fiduciary agent for Repair Affair organizations in both Oldham and Trimble Counties. Repair Affair is a volunteer network that does home repair projects for elderly and/or disabled homeowners who would not otherwise be able to do much-needed repairs on their homes.

With start-up funds from Kentucky Housing Corporation and contributions from local businesses, churches and individuals, materials are provided free of cost. Recent years have seen over 100 volunteers working on 10 homes on the actual Saturdays of the one-day repair project.

Repair Affairs are typically scheduled for the late summer and early fall.  Check OTBA Calendar for specific date.

Volunteers are needed to help with organization, logistics, material delivery, and construction and repair work. All skill levels are welcomed. This isn’t a project only for those in the construction trades.

To volunteer, make a contribution or an in-kind donation, contact Rick Lucas at 225-9449 or email him through this website.

Oldham-Trimble Baptist Builders
Oldham-Trimble Baptist Builders are volunteers from Oldham-Trimble Baptist Churches that perform various ministry projects related to building and repairing homes and churches. Organized in 1990, OTBA Baptist Builders have primarily framed churches, but have also constructed houses and ministry buildings. Over the years the organization has framed over 100,000 square feet of buildings, saving churches, ministries and individuals untold thousands of dollars.

The group normally plans its annual project to begin the second Saturday of July.  An annual banquet is customarily scheduled for the springtime.  Check the association calendar for specifics.

To volunteer or find out more information, contact the group’s coordinator Shane Courtney at
502-255-7718 or email.

Hispanic Ministry
The Hispanic Ministry in Oldham-Trimble Baptist Association has been two-fold. We have assisted in developing local Hispanic ministries and have shared in Hispanic ministry at the regional level as well.

Locally a new work was begun in 2002 at the Baptist Ministry Center in Ballardsville. Sponsored by Ballardsville Baptist Church, Iglesia Bautista Nuevo Amanecer (New Dawn Baptist Church) is led by Jon Young, serving as interim pastor.

We are full participants in Central Region Hispanic Ministry, which provides a catalytic missionary who assists the local works and helps start new ministries. Member associations include Franklin, Henry, Long Run, Owen, and Ten-Mile, Shelby, Oldham-Trimble and White’s Run. Jesus Pacheco, a Venezuelan by birth, is missionary to the region, having begun serving July 1, 2003. He comes most recently from pastoring New Jerusalem Hispanic Baptist Church of Louisville, Kentucky for the past five years.
